Children’s charity NSPCC is expanding its flagship Childline Sports Day fundraising event in celebration of the Olympic year, extending the event beyond London to include Manchester and Glasgow
Ocean Outdoor has joined as the official media partner for these events, launching recruitment campaigns across its digital out-of-home screens in all three cities to encourage team sign-ups for the games on June 7.
The sports days will feature some of the media industry’s biggest brands competing in gladiator-style sports and competitive challenges, with all profits supporting Childline’s work with vulnerable children and teenagers.
In the previous year, more than 500 participants across 43 teams took part, with News UK emerging as the Childline Sports Day champion.
This year’s events, inspired by the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, will incorporate Olympic-themed elements, leveraging Ocean’s long-standing official partnerships with Team GB, Paralympics, and Special Olympics GB.
Phil Hall, CEO of Ocean Outdoor UK, stated, “In an Olympic year, we are proud to support Childline, beginning with an out-of-home campaign in London, Manchester, and Glasgow. Our goal is to encourage as many people as possible to form teams, strengthen industry connections, and raise funds for a worthy cause by working together.”
The sports days will be held at the Golden Jubilee Hotel in Glasgow, the Worsley Park Marriott in Manchester, and Regent’s University in London.
Last year’s event raised approximately $203,000 for Childline, enabling the organization to respond to 40,500 contacts from children in need.
