Jung von Matt has launched NERD in London, a specialized agency focused on “fandom communities, nerds, and geek culture.” NERD, which already has a presence in Germany and Asia, offers advanced technical expertise for platforms like Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft. The agency has worked with major brands such as BMW, Pringles, and Nivea to create immersive experiences.
NERD was founded by Jung von Matt partner Toan Nguyen, and the London branch will be led by Calvin Innes as general manager and creative director. Innes previously operated his own creative agency, DA Creative Studio, for nearly a decade.
Nguyen highlights the shift in cultural dynamics, stating, “Nerd culture and fandoms have become the new pop culture for the next generation. Brands must now focus on communities, as traditional marketing methods are no longer effective. The individuals who once spent hours playing video games and reading comics have grown up and are now influential in shaping the world.”
Innes adds, “Brands that embrace this movement can access a universe of possibilities, engaging their audiences through gamification, unique products, and innovative partnerships, leading to highly loyal fandoms.”
Rob Conibear, Managing Director of Jung von Matt London, notes, “We’re creating a UK agency designed for modern marketing from the ground up. The team at NERD has mastered brand collaborations, community-focused creativity, and cultural relevance. To stay credible in today’s media landscape, these elements must be central to our offering.”
